Thoroughly enveloping, your time with Magda and Honey is well spent and most memorable. Christopher Clarke's endearing characters are brought to life by the gifted acting talents of Ruth Posner as Magda and Beryl King as Honey. The title is poignant to the storyline, however for descriptive reasons this film could justifiably have been called Priceless and or Flawless. Even more interest is added by unique filming style to increase mood, statement and emotion. Some shots are veritable works of individual art in themselves. One in particular is a shot of Honey, (Beryl King), sitting at the end of a long bench alone. The feel of the scene is intense and delivers Clarke's message of loneliness and despair with empathetic power.
Mystery, love, family, comedy, all play a strong part in "Timeless". A universal theme which refreshingly includes male gay couples as accepted and normal participants. The sexuality of the male couples is identified but not the focus of the film. A grand service to community by showing the gay issue in a completely natural and positive way. Bravo! The relationship of the parent, Honey to her gay son is the point here. And is presented in a believable story and by insightful acting by all.
Magda and Honey learn during a chance long-time reunion that they share more than their friendship. I won't give away any details which will deter from the film. However, chance meeting through dramatic climax is enthralling and charming. You really know these women and feel the pain and joy they share in all aspects of the film. Topics of love, trust and friendship are consistently the binding elements of the characters and the reaction to the sometimes hilarious and tearful moments. Brilliantly portrayed by Ruth Posner and Beryl King, Magda and Honey are people you think about after the film has ended. Their story is one which caries a simple message in a hit home style. "Timeless" captures the audience in some ways similarly to the cult classic, "Harold & Maude". Quirky personalities which create warmth, intrigue, and fondness deliver a message of life's value and realization in a powerful way.
Filming and music add depth, charisma, and mood. Never distracting from the action of the story but instead adding to the essence and emotions which help bring the full flavored piece to life. Again, the music brings to mind the above reference to "Harold & Maude". Film score style is thoughtful and weighty but not morbid nor depressing. The music in the film bring life and added perspective to the scenes. Filming styles and scene backdrops bring a warmth and familiar feel. All in all a great film with a wonderful cast. Bravo to all concerned on a job well done. And a huge thanks for a truly timeless and classic movie. Visit the Halogen Entertainment website for your copy of "Timeless" and other works available.
