Mark Weigle
Review by: Len

Prolific singer/songwriter Mark Weigle has raised the baton of excellence even higher with his third CD, "Out Of The Loop". Integrity is a coherence Weigle maintains in all of his music. Bringing his sensitive messages of love as a universal experience not limited to any specific group Mark Weigle has fashioned musical magic. Melodic tunes, strong messages, excellent acoustic guitar, topped by the unmistakable talents of Mark's honest and soothing vocal skills all complete a dynamic package. Essences of folk, country, a dash of pop, and even a venture into circuit style dance music make this a unique compilation of Mark Weigle styles. Further establishing Weigle as a talent

to be recognized and cherished. While Mark chooses to be open about his sexuality in his music he does not alienate anyone. Clearly anyone who has loved will relate, only the pronouns need to be changed.

From opening track "In The Last 5 Minutes" a catchy song with single worth status, to CD closing "Hidden Live Track" Weigle maintains excellence, sensitivity, and a few lessons on true masculinity and self worth. All served up with a sense of humor only to be described as pure Weigle.  A portion of Mark Weigle's genius comes from his ability to share, entertain and teach. That he teaches through his music and makes us enjoy the process is only a fraction of his immense talent. Although I think it is Mark's intent to share rather than teach, however the outcome is a successful combination of both. "I Remember" a beautiful and touching ballad of Mark's life experiences and memories including those regarding AIDS milemarkers, bring him to a point of relating most with his grandmother as shown is his lyrics: "we've both lost a husband now, and so many of our friends." He continues with, "But it's looking like I might have a lifetime still ahead of me; a lifetime I never dreamed I'd see."

All of the tracks included on "Out Of The Loop" are unique and noteworthy, albeit I just have to single out a few more. Steven Fromholz's "Bears" a fun romp, exercising Mark's sense of humor and Fromholz's play on words will be a sure theme for our bear friends. One they should adopt and display proudly. Steven Grossman's 70's classic "Out", a remarkable duet with Steven Grossman is a heart rending view on personal realizations and parental expectations. I would be negligent by not including ""Love Your Body Like It Is" with Lonnie Tuck. A departure from Weigle's acoustic style, this energetic electronic dance sound addresses a serious point. Body alteration to fit a media hyped physical image of personal appearance and masculinity. Mark's message, is clearly one of: "Why not make peace with who and what you are?" (From article by Billboard's LARRY FLICK) The message is loud and clearly put in a musical form geared to attract and effect the circuit crowd. Although the message pertains to many, Weigle is intent on getting this single-worthy piece in front of as many as possible. A worthy message and one desperately needed by those confused by social and or commercial personal images.

There are no bad or even lesser tracks on "Out Of The Loop". In artistic knowledge Mark Weigle leaves us wanting and needing more. More of his intelligent talent, soothing sounds, and comforting voice. An honest insight of our troubled and poorly prioritized community and world. "Out Of The Loop" brings to the front Mark Weigle like a beacon to a dark shore, Bravo!
