"Sun Soul" CD Review |
"Sun Soul Singers, Sun
Soul" Artist: Sun Review by: Len This powerhouse CD of twelve songs was produced to showcase the songwriting abilities of Sun. Ability is a definite understatement here. The quality of the material is equally matched to the deliverance which is astounding. Sun's abilities to make the right choices in material, collaboration, and artists are ideal. The CD flows smoothly with catchy lyrics, and familiar excitingly fresh music. Familiar in theme, not a wanna-be sound a like. This original and all good. |
The contract singers selected by Sun to bring the songs to life were an excellent choice. The lyrics and music empower the vocalists. There is a strong interaction between the two which creates a feel of gathered artists covering "top hits", a confidence which comes across.
As suggested by the title, soul is the underlying theme. Do not confuse that with any preconceived assumptions. There is a wide variety on the theme present. Sun's ability to demonstrate that unique, is a universal concept present in all is established with "Sun Soul". One song does not sound like the other. Messages, style, tempo all take wide sweeps in welcome and pleasant directions. A musical journey with a centralized focus.
I enjoyed the entire CD, and still do, however, track number seven "I've Got Your Number" would be my favorite. Upbeat with a great message, the rhythm reels you in and sticks. One of those songs you find yourself singing. "Sun Soul" is a great addition to a collection in many ways. The diversity of the material, the quality, all make this a must for any music lover. A visit to Sun's website will fill in any blanks while introducing you more in-depth to this multifaceted artist.
