Dotson Rader on Tennessee Williams Wing |

Summer”, just to name a few. |
I have always been a fan of Tennessee’s works. Some of my first glimpses into the gay world were from them. From Sebastian, in “Suddenly Last Summer” to Blanche’ estranged dead husband in “A Streetcar Named Desire” to Brick and Skipper in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”.
There is a lot of name-dropping in Cry of the Heart. But what would you expect from Tennessee. There’s Norman Mailer, Tallulah Bankhead, Truman Capote, Andy Worhol, Jim Morrison, and many, many more.
Cry of the Heart goes deep into Tennessee’s private life. His loves, of men, drugs, and drama. He lived in many exotic places, Key West, the French Quarter of New Orleans, and New York just to name a few. His sister, Miss Rose and their mother having her lobotomized. His Brother Dakin, who had Tennessee committed to a mental ward.
Cry of the Heart is a must read by anyone that loves a good biography. You can find it online. You can also find it in most Public libraries.
