CD Title:
"See
The World" Artist: Phil Dutra by Codi Singer-songwriter Phil Dutra has a gem with this CD. Mature Pop with sophistication serves up soul to Beatles influenced Pop, and does it well. A veteran to the music scene, Dutra's solo was well worth the wait. A little sultry Jazz, 60"s Motown, and some rock all joined in a fulfilling Pop style with lyrics which cause realization and a few laughs. |
Listening to the eleven tracks on "See The World", you get a strong feeling you are getting to see the artist as well. Starting with Track one "Feel This Way" Dutra presents songs with issues personal to us all. "Faithless", track two is a haunting, troubled, and yet somehow hopeful prayer for understanding. A surprise was the humor combined with the sultry jazz feel of track seven; "Gourmet Food, Vintage Wine & You." Ending in a well done cover of George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" Phil Dutra's breezy style makes its mark.
Track number nine, "Fine Young People" is this reviewer's fav. I liked the attitude of hope combined with the wit and dry humor. We all seem to at some point find ourselves just "sitting on our ass". An excellent example of overcoming the all too familiar apathy of today. Take note of what the others around you are doing. And we really do have some fine young people out there. Well done Phil!
All in all a very pleasant listening experience. I highly recommend "See The World", for its musical as well as lyrical value. To find out more about Phil Dutra check out his website.
