CD Review "Blue Passion"
Artist: Drew Paralic
Review By: Len Rogers

Over fifty-four minutes and eleven tracks complete the delightful new release by award winning GLBT Jazz artist, Drew Paralic. Eight of New York City's jazz musicians come together to bring life to Paralic's music. Instrumental, acoustic, eclectic, all describe the experience of "Blue Passion" but the best word I can find is excellent. Instrumentation, production, and musicianship are outstanding and the quality shows all through "Blue Passion".

As Paralic's second disc, "Blue Passion" is an extension of the growth and precision he has gained. Lively, tempos combine with more moody elements to bring a most rewarding listen. Avid Pop music fans and jazz aficionados will both be enthralled with the musical experience Paralic and his talented band of jazz-players bring to the disc. Beginning to end, the listener is carried pleasantly and in the true tradition of jazz. Musical valleys and summits identify  Drew Paralic's original compositions as catchy and on the mark for pleasure. This is jazz which literally grabs the ear, holds it lovingly, and enriches the listening heart.

Not to be confused with rambling, "Blue Passion" has a course and follows. That course being thoughtful and logical progressions which delight and excite this jazz fan. No open ends, no aimless wandering, all songs are complete within themselves. Yet as an entire experience each track enhances the previous and establishes groundwork for the next. So independently and as solo pieces, "Blue Passion" succeeds in offering some of the finest instrumental jazz available today.

I would be remiss in not mentioning the amazing talent of not only composer Drew Paralic, but also the weight and importance of the eight artists who bring this jazz monument to life.  As a musical team this group literally shines right through your speakers and into your heart. Not an experience to pass over or forget. This is Jazz history and it is good!
