"From Christopher To Castro" |
From Christopher To Castro
High kickin' spirits, sentimental moments, and pure country yodeling, all here and presented with a unique flare synonymous with Doug Stevens and The Out Band. "Red Headed Country Boy", and the title track, "From Christopher To Castro" get the feet stomping, and the blood flowing. Varied influences are reflected throughout, those being of time periods as well as other artists. The flavorful "Los Dulces Mexicanos" and "Amor De Lejos" have a latin touch and seemingly the influence of Marty Robbins, a personal favorite. Excellent advise and lots of fun are in store when Stevens expounds on "Next". A beautiful and slightly sad but hopeful, "Miracle In White", brings the issue of same gender marriage to a very personal point. My favorite and one of the most responded to songs on Rainbow World Music is "Cowboy's Sweetheart". A rowdy romp through a classic. Steven's and the Out Band have the spirit, life, and exuberance to do this standard absolute justice. Add to that the camp value and an experience which will find your toe tapping and a huge smile whether a country fan or not.
As a vocalist, Doug Stevens has a strong voice which he uses with precision and control. His yodeling in "Cowboy's Sweetheart" is like a fine tuned instrument. He however misses no opportunity to grab every musical and comic moment. Accompanied by The Out Band a group with excellent execution, style, compatibility and flare. A great addition to the growing collection of music available by Doug Steven's and The Out Band. For more information on CD's, purchasing, and performances visit the site!
